…Insists: Owerri/Okigwe must parley
Ahead of the 2027 elections, a progressive Owerri North stalwart, Chief Mike Nwachukwu (Mpidike of Egbelu Obube ) has advised the people of Owerri Zone to forget the issue of Imo Charity of Equity, and close ranks in order to support a formidable candidate from the zone.
Chief Nwachukwu recalled a recent statement reportedly credited to the Imo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief Declan Mbadiwe Emelumba, to the effect that the Charter of Equity is not what matters, but ensuring that the most qualified candidate regardless of his zone emerges in 2027.
Nwachukwu warned that Commissioner Emelumba’s statement may represent the official position of Orlu Zone on the 2027 Imo gubernatorial position, and warned that it should not be taken for granted.
He alerted the people of Owerri Zone on the scheming of Orlu Zone politicians to contest the 2027 governorship position of Imo State.
He reiterated the imperative for Owerri Zone to hold serious talk with Okigwe Zone on the way forward.
Nwachukwu also suggested strategic engagement with the Okigwe Zone for the purpose of reconciling whatever differences between her and Owerri zone.
In his words, “we must be on same page with Okigwe Zone and together approach Nde Orlu.”
He equally harped on the need for Owerri zone candidates to clinch the governorship ticket of most of the political parties come 2027.
